Schools Rugby Rankings

Schools Rugby Rankings rates every South African boys' first XV rugby school from its results, with the same published formula for every school. It is independent: no school, union, sponsor or broadcaster chooses the order.

Rankings are a guide to form, not a verdict on a school, its coaches or its players. Schools play very different fixture lists, and a rating built from a few matches carries more uncertainty than one built from twenty.

We hold 7 932 first XV results since 2022, 1 728 of them from 2026. They come from public results pages: SchoolBoyRugby Blog, SuperSport Schools and SA School Sports. Every match on the site links the page its score came from.

3 720 of those 7 932 matches were reported by more than one source. The sources disagreed on 440 of them, and on 34 the disagreement changed the winner. How each conflict is settled is set out in how it works.

The rating picked the winner of 70% of 6 299 matches before kick-off, tested on matches it had not yet seen. The data was last updated on 24 Oct 2026; in season it updates after each weekend.

If a score, date or school name is wrong, email [email protected] with the match, the right score, and a link or photo that shows it (a school newsletter, social post or results page). We fix confirmed errors at the next update and the ratings recalculate from the start of the season.
